Our Family

Our Culture

Our Land

ALL VISITORS AND PARENTS must report to the office to sign in for a school visitor pass. This is to ensure safety, provide accountability, support students, and respect learning.

For the safety and health of our students, the playground is now closed before and after school. There has been an increased number of unsupervised students on the playground at these times and the faculty and staff are not available for supervision during these hours. We ask that students leave campus immediately after school unless they are participating in a school sponsored after school event. Also, as posted on signs around campus, there is to be no riding of scooters, skateboards, hoverboards or bikes while on campus. Thank you for your cooperation.

Principals Welcome Message School Year 2017-2018

I hope that this email finds you relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready to start the 2017-2018 school year. I also hope that you were able to spend quality time with your family and friends (your home TEAM) and found some “me” time.

Our theme for the 2017-2018 school year will be “stay the course . . . deeper learning”. This theme builds upon the theme from the last year . . . “full STEAM ahead”. We will continue preparing for our WASC Accreditation by gathering data for chapter 4 of our Self-Study report. We will also continue our efforts in providing instruction that aligns to the Common Core State Standards by implementing the Stepping Stones and Reading Wonders programs. Our PBIS program should assist us with reducing chronic absenteeism and provide our students with clearly defined schoolwide behavioral expectations.

Our office TEAM has been hard at work to prepare for our 2017-2018 school year. Rooms have been stripped and waxed, student and staff packets have been created, new students have been enrolled, and many other tasks that needed to be completed, prior to the start of school, have been taken care of. The air conditioning unit in our library is now operational.

There are a lot of familiar faces in new places and a few faces that are brand new to our TEAM. I am looking forward to working with our TEAM to build upon “our family . . . our culture . . . our land”.

Respectfully Submitted,

Garret Zakahi
Principal – Jefferson Elementary School
